　　在一次抢劫中，由于被达德出卖，里奥被关进了监狱。5年后，他同狱友莫得斯成功地越狱。后来他们入了鲍伯的团伙，并准备抢劫蒙特利镇的银行。里奥的仇人达德此时成了镇上有名望的人物，担任镇上的司法官。达德的继女路易莎同里奥相爱了，而耿耿于怀的达德却等待机会报复。机会来了。里奥误杀了一个醉鬼，达德不仅当众羞辱了里奥，还将里奥投进了监狱。路易莎利用探监的机会帮助里奥逃出监狱。不依不饶的达德追上了里奥，里奥在决斗中将达德杀死。
